She has braces and says the Thanksgiving pecan pie is out. Yes, there&#8217;s a pumpkin pie, but we always have a second pie\u2014and in our family, no one likes apple pie but me. So here&#8217;s my recipe, adapted from the recipe found in <a title=\"Find this book at Amazon.com\" href=\"http:\/\/barkbks.me\/1rowEfN\" target=\"_blank\">Cooking with Craig Claibourne and Pierre Franey<\/a>:<!--more--><\/p>\n<h2>Ingredients:<\/h2>\n<h3>Pastry:<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>1 1\/2 cups flour<\/li>\n<li>1 tbl sugar<\/li>\n<li>1\/2 tsp salt<\/li>\n<li>6 tbl butter<\/li>\n<li>3-4 tbl ice water<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Filling:<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>8 tbl (1 stick) butter, cut into small pieces<\/li>\n<li>3 oz unsweetened chocolate<\/li>\n<li>3 eggs<\/li>\n<li>3 tbl <a title=\"Find Golden Syrup at Amazon.com\" href=\"http:\/\/barkbks.me\/1royeOH\" target=\"_blank\">Golden Syrup<\/a><\/li>\n<li>1 1\/2 cups sugar<\/li>\n<li>1 tsp vanilla extract<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Pastry Directions<\/h2>\n<ol>\n<li>Put the flour, sugar, salt and butter in a food processor or \u00a0stand mixer and mix until it looks like coarse oatmeal (or use a pastry blender).<\/li>\n<li>Slowly add just enough of the ice water until the dough comes away from the sides of the bowl and starts to clump together into a ball.<\/li>\n<li>Roll it out and line your pie pan (here&#8217;s a <a title=\"How to crimp a pie crust\" href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=sJRY1vdCMkQ\" target=\"_blank\">video on how to crimp your pie crust<\/a>), then put it in the refrigerator while you make the filling.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h3>Filling Directions<\/h3>\n<ol>\n<li>Put the butter and chocolate in a saucepan and melt together on low. Take off the heat and set aside.<\/li>\n<li>Add the eggs, syrup, sugar and vanilla in a mixer and beat until light and fluffy.<\/li>\n<li>Slowly drizzle in the chocolate while the mixer continues to run until all the chocolate is incorporated.<\/li>\n<li>Pour the filling into your pie crust and bake for 35-40 minutes at 350 degrees, until the filling is set.
